Tina’s Peanut Buttery Bars
28 Jun
I am one of those people that always seems to alter a recipe. Sometimes it’s based on the ingredients I have or the fat and sugar content. Or sometimes it’s just because I want to see what will happen. Tonight I decided to make Tina’s Peanut Buttery Bars, and I changed a few things. Those few things turned into an entirely different consistency, which I don’t think was necessarily bad – but not the way these bars were intended.

For starters, I decided from the get-go that I would use 1/4 less agave nectar. I was making these with Bill in mind, and he doesn’t like sweets to be overly sweet – so I cut down the agave. I then used whole wheat flour instead of regular flour, which I think changed the entire consistency overall. It just goes to show what experimentation can do in the kitchen!

My version of Tina’s bars were much more like granola bars. Not as gooey or peanut buttery-looking as hers. I’m pretty sure Bill and I will still eat these – but I am going to use the try-and-trued recipe next time around!
Thanks, Tina for providing such great recipes on your blog that are both easy to make, easy to find on the site, healthy and yet can curb a sweet tooth!
