Books
Below are books/book-y things I’ve made (including process details). If you’re interested in buying a book or having one made for you, email me at onalobsterplacemat AT gmail DOT com.
Letters
One of my new year’s resolutions is to write more creative letters.

Accordion Correspondence I wrote my friend a letter using an accordion shape and hand-stamped letters.
|
| Frog Origami I made this frog for a young child with Ewings Sarcoma, who had an affinity for frogs. |
Blank Journals
I make and sell blank journals. Below are a few favorites.

Softcover Style I made this book for a friend using a softcover approach. The outside was constructed with thicker paper rather than board. The book stays closed by a button and string. |
![]() |
Hardcover Style (horizontal) This is a rectangular hardcover journal made using a signature stitch. The spine is secured with book cloth. |
![]() |
Hardcover Style (vertical) These are samples of more vertical (and traditional) hardcover journal made using a signature stitch. |
Wedding Albums
My most popular books are blank albums. I use either lamented sheets or drawing paper for the inside. Each book is customized to fit the couple’s preferences and/or wedding.
| Amanda and Andrew This couple had an outdoor wedding under a large oak tree. Their colors were vibrant purples. |
|
| Amy and Brian This couples a good beer or wine on many, if not all, occasions. |
|

Katie and Jonas This couple choose purple and silver for their wedding colors. The material on the front is tool from the bridesmaid’s gown. |
| Kate and Rob This couple choose red, black and white as wedding colors. The two bottle caps were from their wedding favors – home-brewed beer. |
|

Holly and Eric I made this album for a photographer to fill with her own memories from a friends’ wedding. They had a classy wedding in the Florida winter on the beach. |
Baby Books
In addition to wedding albums, I also make baby scrapbooks.
![]() |
Martine and Sean This book was made as a gift to a couple I didn’t know. They were unaware of the gender of the baby but liked browns, blues and yellows. I included the parents’ names and a space for the baby’s in the middle.
|
Specialty Books
Below are books I’ve made using my own writing.
| BBME CD I made this book/CD for a band. The book folds into the size of a CD and then out like a map (see left). Each space contains the song name and a visual or textual representation of what’s taking place in the lyrics. Together, they all tell one story. |
|
| Swallow This is a micro-fiction recipe book that uses photos of oatmeal to describe moments in life. It is told in second person. |

I bumped into your blog today and am having fun reading your past posts. I liked what you had to say about writing fiction & never thought of how much courage the author must have to publish & all that comes with what people might think of them. You’re recipes look delish & I’ve flagged some to try. Keep up the good work
