What I Learned About Food in 2009

23 Dec

In January, I learned that food can be beautiful.

and in February, I took risks.

In March, I learned that I could vlog (video + blog) about oatmeal. I also began to realize my addiction to specialty coffee.

April was a big month because I understood the true meaning of a loaded pizza.

and my first Green Monster was had in May (what took me so long??).

I really can’t think about anything else that happened in June except for introducing myself to a real live lobster.

And July was dedicated to a little furry friend.

August was spent boozin’. What can I say? It was my birthday month.

In September, I discovered I could use chickpeas in a variety of ways – including a burger variety.

I made Eggs in a Frame in October
and was reminded of a past I had long forgotten.

And in November, I met Freddy Future, who – in retrospect – did not help me plan out my future.

December was kind of a big deal because I had my first tuna melt at work. Now I can’t stop.

So what did I learn about food in a year?

  • Food can be creative; food can be art.
  • Food can be healthy comfort.
  • Food can bring back memories you thought you’d forgotten.
  • Certain foods can be a risk that’s worth it!

I also learned that I live my life through food. And there ain’t a darn thing wrong with that. ;)

What did you learn about food this year?

I tried more food this year than probably any other year in my memory anyways :) I definitely agree with you that taking risks with food is usually worth it

You are just too much — you never fail to impress me with your creativity! I love this post! This year I learned a lot of good and bad about food. I’ve learned some things about the food industry that I’m not too excited about but at the same time, thanks to the blogging community, I’ve learned that food is meant to be fun, fresh and tasty and can evoke every type of emotion imaginable.

    Love this post!!

I, too, learned that food can be beautiful. I also learned that nuts aren’t so intimidating… that they’re actually my best friends ;)

Ah, I loved this! I love seeing everything you’ve done month by month.

I learned that food doesn’t have to be so scary. I’ve relaxed a lot since last year, and enjoy so many more foods now. I treat myself more and life is just generally more fun because of that :)

I’m loving these retrospective posts! I learned that I can go full days without eating meat and still be fine and then go out to dinner and order a steak. Random but I always thought I had to go completely vegetarian, but now I know I can just weave it into my diet.
