Something Borrowed, Something New

8 Dec

Sometimes the best things in life are a combination of something borrowed + something new.

As I was spreading peanut butter across my bread, I grabbed the jam – second nature – and saw strawberries on my second shelf. It was one of those moments where I’m holding the jam in one hand and the strawberries in the other. I felt like a commercial. I could either have the all-natural real thing or a variation of the all-natural real thing (with added sugar). Clearly, all-natural won out and breakfast become a borrowing of toast and peanut butter with an addition of real straw.

Making this reminds me that doing new things, experimenting and putting a little variety into each day is important to me. It starts off with a little thing like toast and snowballs into the way I move throughout my day – maybe today I’ll listen to a different CD in the car, I’ll do my work in a different order, I’ll try and enjoy my commute home, I’ll cook something new and different.

I’m thankful for all the new things in my life. Especially the new mindset on how to live it.

What’s new about you? What, if anything, will you do differently today?

Great post- its always nice to change things up. Maybe I’ll try a new way home today too. I am also going to one of Josh’s rec basketball games for the first time and then out after the game with him and his teammates (which is also new). Going out of our “comfort zone” can really open doors :) Have a good one Rose

I love strawberries on toast! I wish we had some good ones around here now. They are all pretty shriveled. Not much new with me…

i love this post. not only because i love pb and strawberry sandwiches (pb and blackberry sandwiches are really good too), but also because i feel that newness and variety are incredibly important in all aspects of life. that’s a large part of why i am always making new recipes or trying new foods – it keeps life exciting and interesting, and i always feel challenged, even if it’s by something as simple as a new flavor.

i’m not sure what will be new today – i’ll keep you updated. :)

PB and Strawberry oats are among my favorite foods, so why have I never tried strawberry PB toast?! You are a genius miss Rose :)
Today: I will try to stay positive even though its snowing like crazy and I’m exhausted.

Well, my hair is a completely different color today (I’m scared it’s too dark though) and I ate a smoothie for breakfast instead of an egg sandwich.

Strawberries in place of jam are a great idea! :)

Today: I plan on letting myself go with the flow, and not rushing to do ANYTHING, just taking things as they come.

I’ve made the switch to adding fruit to my toast too! I had an epiphany yesterday to get rid of someone who was a bad influence in my life…hard decision to make for myself but saves me alot of hurt.

Today I’m going to try to get to the library before lunch. I always procrastinate on my school work on days off, and then get mad at myself later in the day.

I’ve never tried strawberries instead of jam, but it sounds like a great idea to me! I’m a creature of habit usually – esp. during the week – but maybe this post can inspire me to shake things up a bit at some point today :O)

I just made a strawberry nut butter sandwich for Daddy to take for lunch! Of course I complained about making him lunch, so maybe apologizing should be my “something new.”

oh yum! sounds like such a great breakfast. I love the whole out with the old in with the new idea too! Its good sometimes to change the routine up a bit. I think for me I want to challenge myself in different ways. Try new workouts, new meals and new goals. Have a great day!
