Stoked, indeed.
20 Oct
I was pretty stoked about two things over the past two days. For starters, I made a house out of toast.
And by house, I mean… not really a house at all, but it looked cool, and it was fun.
The second thing happened to was receiving not one – but two – blogger awards from Gena over at Choosing Raw. It took me a while to write some of these “getting to know you” facts last night.
The first was the Over the Top badge.
This honor requires me to respond to the following questions with a single word. Here goes nothing:

The second act of kindness was the Kreativ Blogger Award:
This award is all about about me telling you seven things about myself that you don’t know.
1. I used to have a perm. A bangs perm. The rest of my hair was kind of wavy, but my bangs were permed. I think it was the style then. It only looked good when my mom styled it. I have pictures that I’ll probably never show you.
2. I spent most of my life on my grandparents’ farm where I baled hale, shucked corn, canned peaches and worked in the garden. In the afternoons (during “free time”), we played baseball and made water slides out of old tarps.
3. I have never had a manicure or pedicure. All that shucking corn talk in #2 should probably explain that.
4. I was “baton girl” in high school and used to pick up the batons that majorettes dropped during indoor competitions. My friend Sheena and I signed up so we could go on trips to Wildwood, New Jersey. Their routine was set to the song, “Mambo Number 5.” One time, I remember seeing my twin at a competition. I’ve never seen anyone that looked that much like me. I tried to talk to her, but she didn’t hear me.
5. It’s rare that I follow doctor’s orders. I always try my best though.
6. I’ve dated guys with the following names: Squirrel, Moose, Hopper and Meat Truck.
7. I’d prefer baking over cooking any day, but that’s mainly because of my poor knife skills. I get really caught up in choosing the right blade that by the time I do, I already feel like I’ve wasted too much time. I’m also a really fast cook; I like to challenge myself against time constraints that usually don’t exist.
So, I am taking the easy way out and awarding these awards to anyone who reads my blog that hasn’t received them yet. I’ve seen them all over the place, so I’m not sure who all’s received them or not.
Thanks again, Gena! This was fun.

I like your toast house..lol. I cracked up at it.
Shut up…my husband’s name is Meat Truck. That’s just weird.
You’re kidding. Meat Truck? What did you call him? Meat? Meaty? MT?
Maybe your twin didn’t hear you because she WAS you and if she heard you it would ruin the space/time continuum.
#6 made me laugh out loud; and I’m in the library
Toast house? ahah
Congrats on the awards Rose! You are beyond deserving
Nice bread-n-spread architecture !
Woohoo! Congrats on the awards – well-deserved, my friend
I agree with you on pie over muffins.
Nice toast house! I’ve been following the Lobster Diet of toast lately, too. It has served me well.
We need to come up with a funny nickname for Bill. The name “Bill” needs to compete with “Meat Truck” after all…
i love this
I love learning all these little things!
You should come visit me – there’s a beauty school here that gives manis/pedis for only $20 total!
Squirrel! That is great
My pleasure, baton thrower.
haha LOVE the toast house!
Yay for toast “houses”!
Loved reading facts about you…I’ve always been jealous of baton girls…You should really treat yourself to a mani/pedi in the near future! Such a great way to pamper yourself.
How do muffins make you think of pie?
Congrats (:
LOVED reading your 1 word answers, especially “Muffins? Pie.” LOL!!
Neato about baling hay with gram and gramps!
I’m loving this one word answer survey going around blog world! Fun learning random facts about everyone :O)

You deserve these
haha you saw your twin. i have hundreds, apparently. people aaalways tell me i look familiar or i look like someone they know. this one time, when i was 13ish, i was at a big volleyball tournament in Colorado and this girl (from Wisconsin) came up to me and told me that i looked a lot like her cousin. not that strange, BUT after some chatting, it turned out that this cousin of hers not only lived in my hometown of Austin, she went to my school, and i actually knew her. thennn, a few years later, the same girl from Wisconsin showed up to volleyball try-outs at my high school and after some puzzled staring at one another, we realized we had met each other before! it was all very bizarre.
i don’t think that story made any sense. bottom line, my face is unoriginal.
I’m curious about these permed bangs…
