OALP Makes the Blog Log
30 Jul
Big news! On a Lobster Placemat made it on Washington Post Express’s Blog Log this morning! It’s in the upper left-hand corner.
“I’ve been cheating on oatmeal. But I just can’t get over how filling and satisfying PB&J toast can be. It’s also a lot easier to make certain mornings.”
It was very cool to be included in the paper today! When I rode the metro daily, this was one of my favorite parts of the paper.
Below my quote, they wrote that I prefer a “less mature and likely less healthy breakfast option for now.”
I wanted to respond to this.
It seems like PB & Jelly gets a bad rap and is considered “less healthy” than other meals.
That is simply not the case.
I made this toast using Maranatha All-Natural Nut Butter, homemade organic jam, flaxseed and Ezekiel bread, made from freshly-sprouted organic grains. All ingredients are natural, organic and do not contain preservatives.
I would never intentionally serve something “less healthy” on my lobster placemat for breakfast. My placemat doesn’t deserve it! You all know how I roll when it comes to healthy living.
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t disagree that a less mature meal sometimes equals a more FUN meal. And why eat if it’s not fun once in a while?
Thanks again, Washington Post Express, for reading my blog and including it
Lunch
Today’s lunch was an ode to the pickle. I bought a wrap from the deli.
It was good but massive. I only ate one side, and I’m saving the other half for later.
Lunch break = over!

Congrats on the Washington Post mention!!
Less healthy? Psshhh. Nut butters are a great source of protein, and ww bread = fiber. Plus it TASTES GOOD.
Congrats on making it in the Washington Post!!!!! So glad you “answered back” by telling how wonderfully healthy PB&J can be!! You’re right…. ONLY THE BEST for your placemat!!

congrats on the mention! and i’m glad you addressed their statement. i think pb&j gets a bad rep from people who eat skippy on wonder bread, but yours – perfectly healthy (and delicious!).
You rock, Rose! How fun! And i “totes” agree with you about your MORE THAN HEALTHY pb&j!
Congrats Rose!! You definitely deserve some recognition, and I agree with your response to the “PB&J” statement…I eat pb&j almost everyday, and it’s totally healthy! And delicious
Congrats… less mature? less healthy? Oh Express, you better watch out lol.
YAY! I said it on FB but ill say it again – CONGRATS LADY! That is awesome!
I hate that PB&J often gets a bad rap, as with everything it can be done not only right but extremely healthfully and how many calories something has in it is sometimes completely irrelevant.
Congrats again celeb
I said it on twitter, but I’ll do an Allison and repeat: CONGRATS to you! You deserve it, as your blog pretty much rocks, in my opinion.
Thats so cool you made the Post! Rock on!
Before reading through your entire post… I read their little blurb on it being unhealthy and I was sure thinkin’ they were WRONG on that part! congrats tho! That’s awesome! I’m so overwhelmed to be commenting on a celebrities blog! (:
Congrats, that’s awesome!! I agree, PB&J really gets the bad rap, I guess b/c most people make it on White Bread with skippy & grape jelly!
That’s awesome. Did you know it was going to be featured ahead of time?
YaY! You addressed that very well! Congrats to you!
Good for you for explaining to an uneducated writer that PB&J can be healthy! We need to remember that you can eat the foods you love and make them healthy with a few minor changes

That’s awesome! I love the WaPo Express. I wish the Boston Globe did something similar here in MA. You’re so right, PB&J does get a really bad rap. I think that most foods that people associate with childhood are thought of as automatically unhealthy, even if they’re not. Like pizza, for instance. Maybe Dominos isn’t the healthiest way to eat pizza, but there are tons of pies out there that are more veggie than cheese.
Hon, that is SO fun about the article!
And DEAL about Thanksgiving meetup in New Hope!!!
Congrates on the mention. That’s huge!
That is SO cool that you made it into the paper! Congrats! I’d frame it
And I fully agree with you about pb+j. It can definitely be made to be very healthy!
**bows in awe**
You’re so funny! I love that you responded to the comment – congrats on being featured, but I completely agree that they shouldn’t have put that little “aside” below it! Still…you’re FAMOUS
I love massive wraps!! Lunch looks fab.
WOW! You made it in the paper?!?! That is so exciting. I’m really happy for you.
Congrats on being in the paper! That’s awesome! The wrap looks fab too, and I just love those deli pickles on the side
Umm, I hope you don’t mind, but I think I might become you for the day tomorrow – you’ve inspired me. That might not make sense now, but it will when I post tomorrow night I hope!
how cool!!! fun stuff
Congrats on getting the mention in the paper! Now even more people will know how fabulous your blog is.
i was happy you were in the paper, but when i saw the guys response i was totally taken back. I thought that was bit harsh and agree that pb and j gets a bad rap but can be very good for you!
You are a freaking superstar, up there next to Miley Cyrus (it’s MILEY!!!).
Congrats on the paper inclusion! That is way cool! When did they tell you you were going to be included?
first of all CONGRATS on the newspaper cameo. thats so COOL!!!
secondly, i agree that PB+J does get a bad rap. im not sure why. its so quick and easy, and the ratio of salty to sweet is perfection.
