Banana Cream & Power Flower

Dessert

Before I talk about this morning’s breakfast, I MUST rave about Gena’s Banana Soft Serve. Oh. my. goodness. The idea of this just blows my mind. Take two frozen bananas, put them in the food processor and create this? Who knew?

One note: do not put your bananas in the freezer with the peel still on. Yeah, you would have thought I’d known to take it off and cut up my banana slices first.

So yes, this was a heavenly evening dessert! Try it!!!

Breakfast

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you may have noticed one of two things about my oatmeal 1) I like to make flower creations 2) I like anything involving a summer theme.

This morning is no different, as a flower has been born. However, this flower has some unique powers that the others don’t quite have.

7.8.09 013

For starters, these petals have a life and mind of their own. They were sick of being thought of as “one flower,” so little by little they decided to break apart.

7.8.09 015

The center of the flower is a powerful place. It’s a source of energy, inspiration and strength for the petals. It keeps them rooted in the ground while also allowing them to fly.

7.8.09 014

Although the flower is united now, as time goes on the flower will separate and the petals will move on to different places… very much like a family.

7.8.09 017

How big is your family? Do you remain close?

In other very important news, Scone wore a cape last night.

Off to work!

Yeah I’m gonna have to give that banana stuff a try… but for now, I just can’t get over Scone’s cuteness.

Scone is just way too precious. My husband and I are getting a cat next week and if he/she is anything as cute as Scone my husband will think I’ve gone insane with all the baby talk that is coming. :-P

Scone is too cute, as are your ‘oatmeal’ stories!

  4. jenngirl July 8, 2009 at 9:41 am #

My family is pretty average sized, but it has helped us remain pretty close because we are not too big.

    I love your flower-themed oatmeal! :)

I put a bunch of bananas in the freezer last night and I cannot wait for dessert tonight!

ok, that’s it — I have to try this banana cream! I don’t have a food processor! Do you think it would work with a blender??

I totally forgot to peel mine before I froze, too – d’oh! I have to say, I didn’t find the “fro yo” quite as life changing as everyone else did. :)

    Your kitty is sooo cute!

hahah I just love Scone in that cape, cracks me up :)

And I’ve totally made the mistake of freezing bananas with their peels still on…hahah

My family is close but we’re all so scattered all over the boroughs of NYC AND Ukraine. Thankfully, we make time to see each other quite often.

ha, i love the tshirt cape :) i made the soft serve last night too! we’re dessert twins.

i do have a pretty big family and i’m pretty close to a lot of them. we took vacations with aunts, uncles and cousins when I was younger and I grew up with both sets of grandparents less than 5 minutes away.

Bahaha, all cats should wear capes! :P

The first time I froze bananas, I left the peel on too. I felt like such an idiot when I had to microwave to get it off, then was left with banana mush.

Rose, I am in love with your blog! So excited that you made, and like, the ice cream!!

Haha- peeling frozen bananas suuuuucks! I did the same thing and almost gave myself frostbite.

My family is pretty small- just my parents, brother and me. We are really close and (thankfully) get along well!

Ahh I HAVE to try this frozen banana “fro yo”!!! I actually dreamed up the idea a while ago, then my freakin’ food processor broke, and then this banana fro yo craziness erupted all over the blog world!! Must. Get. New. Food. Processor.

I have some bananas in the freezer and can’t wait to have the soft serve tonight!
And I love that scone is wearing a cape! He’s a super hero!

That banana soft serve creation looks fabulous! I need to make that asap! And hahaha, I’ve TOTALLY frozen bananas in their peel before–3 months ago. It was a mess, I’ll say that much!

Your oats are gorgeous. I love the pretty little flower. And Scone is too cute with that cape :D

Banana soft serve is taking over the world! I need to put it on my must try list.
I have an average sized family and we are pretty close and I don’t know what I would do without them.

Scone’s cape gave me a smile.

My family – well I have three big sisters and a little brother. I live the furthest away with everyone else still in RI and Mass. We are close, but I wouldn’t say I am close to my extended family.

  18. Melissa S. July 8, 2009 at 1:11 pm #

dude, that soft serve looks awesome!

i have younger twin brothers who are currently in denmark but we talk all the time. and i still talk to my parents every single day when i’m away…ok, almost every day!

  19. Sarah July 8, 2009 at 1:21 pm #

OMG, my life is complete with that kitty cape.

  20. leslie July 8, 2009 at 2:37 pm #

omg. cat cape. looks like scone is ready to spend nights saving the world!

my immediate family is small, just me, my older sister, and our parents. but we’re very close – my sister and i live together, and i talk to my parents probably every other day. they’re my favorite people in the world. :)

I love the picture of Scone!!

My family is very close and it’s wonderful. I have two sisters and a brother and we all (finally!) get along, and my parents are fantastic. I’m lucky to have a great extended family and amazing in-laws now too!

  22. Erin July 8, 2009 at 4:00 pm #

Scone in a cape is the BEST thing I’ve seen all day. Hands down. :)

My family is not big, and I’ve always wished it was. I’m totally jealz of people with big extended families.

  23. Erin July 8, 2009 at 5:11 pm #

I’ve stuck bananas with their peels on in the freezer far too many times before. As in enough to know what a pain it is. At least you learned!

  24. hopeinpeanutbutterandoats July 9, 2009 at 8:51 am #

is it weird that i had a dream last night that i made this?
