Sitting on the Dock

of the Bay! IMG_7726

Bill and I got all crazy-faced and let our hair down today at St. Michaels on the Chesapeake Bay. It was an impromptu trip, the kind we like, and we got to explore an area so close to our apartment – we couldn’t believe it was there all this time.

We hit the road after the parade and took our time driving. Along the way, we stumbled across this random shop:

This shop was loaded with lots of musical goodies and other random antiques. I told Bill I’d buy him something for $10, but very little was under $40.

The town of St. Michaels is beautiful. Right by the bay, lined with cute boutiques and shops and perfect for an afternoon of walking. We spent around three hours wandering in and out of shops along the main drag. I wish I had prettier pictures of the town, but this is all I got:

This picture looks like it could have taken anywhere, but trust me – this place is beautiful. For example, check out this kitchen in a house full of antiques.

IMG_7690We only ended up buying two things – a cat toy for Scone (to be featured later), and I got a bumper sticker that says “Meow.” What can I say? I love my cat!

On the way down, we made dinner reservations at a place we found online called Bay Hundred. It had gotten good reviews online.IMG_7696

There’s nothing quite like sitting by the bay while eating dinner. IMG_7701

We got a boatload of food. Forgive me for posting pictures only. It’s pretty self-explanatory. IMG_7705

And while we were eating, the bridge rose nearby. IMG_7712

This place was great, but I don’t think I’d go there again. I think it was slightly overpriced and though the fish was good – the food was not seasoned well, in my opinion. (If I have to add salt, then I know it’s under seasoned. I never add salt to anything!)

After dinner, we drove further down the island and tried to get closer to the water. We had a good time :)

On the way home, we saw not 1 – but 4 firework shows. The drive was pleasant :) I like watching fireworks from inside the car because I absolutely hate the sound of them. It was a good drive.

Upon getting home, we gave Scone his new toy, which he immediately loved. IMG_7750

Any guesses? IMG_7752

And with that, I bid you good night! Happy 4th :)

Aw, it looks like you two had a great Fourth! Awesome!

I love eating by the water. I ate at some little place in Harrisburg last fall that was right on the river. I was freezing, but I loved it. I don’t know what it is, but food eaten outside — especially next to water — tastes better. Doesn’t it?
