You know I’m a fan of the lobster. I’m also a fan of most anything seafood (though you know by now I don’t like mussels!) All that being said, I was totally stoked when Old Bay contacted me, asking if I’d be interested in a gift bag in honor of their 70th anniversary.
Fun fact: Did you know that Old Bay’s original name was “Delicious Brand Shrimp and Crab Seasoning”? Read the rest of the Old Bay story here.
To me, Old Bay is legendary. I can’t remember a time when we didn’t have a container of Old Bay in our house growing up. It’s a company that’s always been around, and I’m happy to help celebrate their 70 years.
Even better – the people at Old Bay asked if I’d be up for giving away one of these packages on my blog. Of course, of course, I said!
So, let’s check out the goods in more detail:
Cute tote: This actually had a flat bottom so it sits upright!
Old Bay Seafood Steamers: A seasoning and steaming back for the microwave
Keychain & Temp. Tattoo: I’m already contemplating the perfect day to sport the tattoo, and the keychain is a bottle opener!
Beach towel: I am taking this to the apartment pool STAT. Guaranteed to win best towel award.
Old Bay Seasoning: And the reason for the celebration right here in a little 6 oz. canister. So glad they’ve kept this iconic look.
How to enter:
- Leave a comment on this blog and tell me why you most deserve this package. Even though I’m using the random integer, I’m still looking for some creative answers, people. Earn street cred by making me laugh
Earn extra points by:
- Linking back to this contest on your blog (let me know if you do!)
- Linking back to this contest on Twitter (let me know if you do!)
- Follow me on Twitter – I’m @lobsterplacemat
The contest will run until Thursday, July 2, at midnight (eastern time). I will announce the winner Friday morning!

Oh, I want to win! I remember my first crabs experience in the Outer Banks. My uncle’s father (a Baltimore native) taught me the proper way to open a crab and I vividly remember Old Bay all over my fingers. That is a memory I will have forever!

How fun!
I deserve it because:
1. I’ve been looking for a new tattoo idea
2. Old Bay crab chips are my FAVORITE – have you had them?
3. I grew up on the coast eating fresh seafood and old bay is part of my heritage. I could use a little of that heritage in the form of a towel to use at the pools here since I have no beach

ummm fabulous giveaway! I LOVE old bay. I just used it the other night to make crab cakes. I most deserve to win because I recently moved away from MD (crab capital!) to SC. Now I have to make all my own crab at home and I need this spice to do so! I also want that towel to use at the beach

Ahh…Old Bay. It is quintessential Maryland.
The reason I should win? Because I’m the only person that I know of that realizes that UTZ OLD BAY crab chips are the BEST snack food on the planet.
OLD Bay. + Chips.
BRAZILLIANT.

I would like to be considered for your giveaway because I believe I have a legendary dedication to Old Bay:
1. I lived in Germany for 4 years and had friends in Baltimore send me the tall cans every other month or so. I would bring a can to parties and sprinkle it on people’s chips (Before Utz did).
2. When I lived in Oklahoma, I would import frozen shrimp and have friends over for steamed shrimp every other month or so…this was way before Old Bay was in stores there.
3. Now live in Seattle where all seafood is boiled (and the crabs are Dungeness…yuck). Anyhow, slowly changing the culture one mouth at a time by steaming shrimp and crabs with Old Bay.
Thanks for your consideration.

I deserve to win because I have never had my own container of Old Bay! Being from Missouri, I never had a need. And I keep having people here make my seafood. I think it’s about time I use it in one of my own cooking endeavors.

I need this Old Bay stuff!!!! My husband is in love with Old Bay and uses it on everything!!!!! I made him move out of B’more (his life long home) to NJ last year so this Old Bay package would mean so much to him!

OHH BOY do I love OLD BAY!
(See what I did there? Alliteration with the actual product name? Does pointing it out make it less effective?)
Seriously though, I love the stuff. I add it to everything – ever tried it with popcorn? Delish!
Thanks for hosting, Rose!

Love the giveaway! I’ve never used Old Bay seasoning, so I’d really love to try it! And to tell you the truth, I haven’t heard of it before to know what it was. So when I read your post title, I thought of that Old Spice cologne or whatever. I was like, wait–isn’t this a food blog? Why is she giving away that super strong cologne that’s supposed to make all the girls go crazy? Haha, whoops! I guess that’s my reason–I need to win this, so I can be educated about Old Bay!

I love the beach, but being fair-skinned, I can burn in minutes. Maybe that’s why, when I saw the irresistible beach towel, I thought: I’d just have to use that. Of course I’d look like a lobster…making the towel the Ultimate Lobster Placemat! (though very different from what your title stands for). A great giveaway, and I’ll retweet!

Ok, so I want to win this bag of OLD BAY goodies for many reasons…I shall list them for you.
1. I follow you on twitter
2. I retweeted this link and some other stuff of yours
3. You rock
4. I let you borrow a pretty sweet book
5. I don’t have a gift for my Bride yet for our wedding day (we get married in t-minus 30 days) and she loves OLD BAY and Crabs from the Chesapeake…so this would be the perfect gift, because we are going to an island for our honeymoon and we could use the towel…heck, I would even tattoo the OLD BAY Tattoo on my arm for the honeymoon and I would send photos to you for the blog
6. I put OLD BAY on my fries, potatoes, potato chips, burgers, steaks, chicken, shrimp, mashed potatoes, potato salad, chili (yes chili), and lobster…I love OLD BAY (i love it so much, I capitalize it everytime I write it)
7. I bet I could use every item in the bag throughout the duration of our honeymoon…it would be instantly used and loved.
8. My middle name is OLD BAY.
9. My Dad is OLD and I live on the BAY.
10. I read your blog everyday and I will till I expire if I get to have your bag of OLD BAY awesomeness…
Thanks for posting and having a great contest!

Ohhh, I love Old Bay! I think I deserve to win because I laughed when my husband stuck his hand in a crab trap and a crab clawed onto his thumb and drew blood! I still laugh about Pinchey! (Simpson’s reference, anyone?!)
Actually, this story makes me seem like a mean wife and like I shouldn’t win … but it is all true!
(I still think I should win!)
