An Easy Sunday

11 May

Happy Mother’s Day! Did you all get to spend some time with your moms? I didn’t get to see mine today, but she was in my mind all day! Along with all the other mothers in my life – my stepmother, Bill’s mom and my grandmas! I’m sad I couldn’t go to Pennsylvania and see them all, but I’m going there the next three weekends in a row (and was just there two weeks ago), so we’ll have our time. :)

BIG NEWS – For mother’s day, my stepfather bought my mom a digital camera! I’m so excited. She sent me pictures of the flowers I had delivered on her doorstep yesterday. I’m so glad they got there safely!

(Now you know my first name!)

I had a really productive day – although it actually didn’t feel like it. Looking back, I’m realizing all the little things Bill and I did together that made for a great Sunday afternoon.

We got brunch at the Bagel Towne Deli in Rockville.

Yep. Still hooked on bagels. This week was bad.

After brunch, we made a pit stop at Michael’s because I had a special framing project in mind. Because we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by Brian and Amy’s new house so I could get the tour. The house is beautiful – they have so much space! I look forward to a backyard party there.

So want to take a peak at my framing project? It’s the half-marathon poster!

It has really brightened up our bland, boring bedroom. There is more space to the right because I’m hoping to add two more small frames – one with my bib and the other a picture of the finish line. (Please don’t mind the cat carrier and mess on my end table – we have a small apartment!)

After our framing business, we decided to take a little breather before going to the park. I admittedly watched a Lifetime movie while the men of the house napped.

Exhibit A: Bill (he will hate me for this later).

5.10.09 006

Exhibit B: Scone (in his favorite spot – he will not hate me later)

5.10.09 007

We went to Rock Creek and played catch for about an hour and I went on a little jog. The legs felt good! I probably only ran a mile or so, and I could have done more but it was getting late and I needed to finish my paper. However, it wasn’t too late for a trip to Mr. Yogato post playing catch.

Bill admired his hair along the way as it’s gotten quite large.

5.10.09 011

I couldn’t wait to dig into my Yogato cup. I got the grapefruit yogurt flavor with strawberries and teddy grahams.

5.10.09 012

Bill also got strawberries but opted for cap’n crunch (the toppings at this place are ridiculous!)

5.10.09 014

Help me! I’m drowning!

5.10.09 015

When I got home I worked on my paper for a while and realized that I hadn’t really eaten much today – and I was hungry. Bill cooked up some pasta with random items we had: artichokes, spinach, capers, parm cheese and spices.

5.10.09 020

Green and filling and delicious and GOOD.

5.10.09 021

I just spent the last two hours finishing my paper + preparing lunches for the week. I’m excited to show off some of the new recipes I’ve tried!

TWISTORI

Speaking of my paper - have you ever visited the site Twistori? It takes certain phrases that are always used on twitter and creates a life feed. The “catch phrases” are things like I love, I hate, I feel, I believe, etc. I have been watching it non-stop because I’m doing a spin-off for my final paper in Experimental Forms. You should see the crazy paper I’ve come up with. Every line is from a different person but they go together so well – it’s like the same person wrote all of them. Definitely weird, experimental and fun! (I love grad school!)

How did you spend your mother’s day?
