Open-Faced Tuna Melt

5 May

Have I mentioned how much my boyfriend Bill hates tuna? It’s so bad that I can’t open a can within 10 feet of him. My cat Scone, on the other hand, is basically jumping up on the counter to lick the unopened can.

Last night was no exception. In fact, Scone actually jumped up near my plate while I was eating this – and Bill hid in the bedroom.

Depending on the type of bread you use, this meal can be anywhere between 300-500 calories. It’s ultra-filling and kept me satisfied.

What’s your take on tuna?

For my 15-MCCers… Days 9-10
How are you moving today? What did you do yesterday? Is anyone even still doing this? Please say yes because I sure am! Today was leg lifts at every bathroom break and five minutes of stretching after lunch.

    beautiful sandwich!

I haven’t been doing much in the 15MMC today – my legs are a bit tight from my run, but I am STILL going to the bathroom downstairs every time, and we walked around a bunch at lunch (running errands) but still! Something is better than nothing :)

Melting a string cheese on a sammy? I like it.

And tuna – I like it, but only when prepared by myself. I never order it out.

As for the MMC – I now have to walk farther to the bathroom in my office, so that should count for something! I also could have taken a cab last week and instead – thought “I can walk this.”

I am sooooo not a tuna fan. Your description of Bill + Scone was funny ’cause when my roommate used to prepare her tuna, I’d run away but our cat Jack stalked the tuna can.

For my 15 MMC today I offered to to do some copying and did some calf raises while at the machine, I also took a short walk before it started raining again at lunch.

Putting worcestershire sauce on it right after opening takes the smell away! Then you add all of your other ingredients. That’s the only way I can eat it =)

I am like Bill with the tuna. I cannot stand the smell and make the boyfriend brush his teeth after he eats it. My grandma always fed it to her cats straight so I always associate it with cat food..

I love tuna. I like to mix it with salsa or hummus, or both!

Still moving…still walking outside. I did stretch a little in the afternoon. I love string cheese, but never do anything with it except eat it straight, and tuna is yummy too. I’ll have to try this one day.

I’m still doing the 15 minute challenge! I’m still pretty much only racking up minutes by making numerous trips to the far away bathroom and water jug, but once in awhile I’ll do some stretching or squats in the bathroom when no one else is in there!

I hate canned tuna. But I’ve recently learned to like ahi tuna. I had a great seared ahi tuna dish at a restaurant this weekend. So fresh and wonderful!

No tuna, or any fish, for me! But my dad’s favorite thing to get at diner type restaurants is the tuna melt!

Re the 15-MCC, I do my 30 minute workout at Curves everyday on my lunch hour. Fortunately, Curves is only 1 mile from my job! I also walk on my 2 breaks, 1 mile around the building, weather permitting!

I think tuna is pretty awesome – I pretty much lived off of tuna sandwiches as a kid. But I don’t like it with lettuce. I can’t tell you why, it just doesn’t work for me.

My cat is totally like Scone too when I have tuna out – she will not leave me alone until I let her have the tuna water from the can!
