My family auction wields nice goods

30 Jun

I went to Pennsylvania this weekend for our family reunion and made beer bread and french honey bread.

They went over pretty well! My Uncle Jack and Aunt Martha were particularly impressed, and they make their bread from scratch (no machine). Even though the bread machine does the work, I still took this as a compliment.

On the way to Pennsylvania, Bill and I stopped at our favorite weekend breakfast spot: Kirsten’s Cafe. I often get cravings for an egg sammy made on an everything bagel. I had to eat in the Jeep while Bill drove as we left a tad late:

The reunion was really fun and lasted nearly 7 hours (we go ALL day). I got to see some family members I haven’t seen in a while, including my cousin, “Cow” (Marissa). She works on a dairy farm milking cows and will soon get her license to operate heavy machinery… she is quite the woman!

And then she snapped a close-up photo of me:

All in all – a great weekend. I didn’t eat particularly well, but I’m back home and ready to go this week. Oh, and how could I forget about the family auction? Bill and I snagged the following items for our new place:

A photo of tulips taken by my Aunt Pat, a set of 4 brandy glasses (2 shown here), homemade blueberry-raspberry wine, a nice little clay pot, a shell-shaped candy dish, and a new plant that we’ve named Muriel.

I am spent, and Bill has been cleaning the kitchen for nearly 45 minutes (which is rare..) Time for bed!
